The examination includes a general ophthalmic examination, which includes intraocular pressure measurement using the applanation method, examination of the optic nerve, examination of the angle of the eye and a measurement of corneal thickness.
It is important to emphasize that all of these do not provide a complete diagnosis of glaucoma. To complete the diagnosis, it is indispensable to measure the thickness of nerve fibres of the optic nerve head (OCT) and examine the visual field.
Measurement of intraocular pressure alone is not enough to diagnose glaucoma because the intraocular pressure may be within normal limits, while an OCT examination and examination of the visual field may show damage to the optic nerve. Therefore, it is always recommended to perform a complete glaucoma examination.
For the treatment of certain types of glaucoma, the Medić Jukić Eye Clinic uses laser treatment with VISULAL® YAG III Combi devices.
It is performed as an outpatient procedure using only anaesthetic eye drops, guaranteeing a completely painless procedure.
